11 "Faux Pas" That Actually Are Okay To Create With Your Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of many Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading them. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.
In most cases, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They improve the stats of the item upgrade they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrade components from items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. The damage absorption of an item of armor will increase when it's upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. But, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.
There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade an item upgrader kit can receive, as shown below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which is identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a fee to use, and are identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh daily or never expire dependent on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest option to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give a significant increases in stats and are well worth the cost.
A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will significantly increase its defense capabilities, but the player should be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its speed and agility. Therefore, it is typically not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces that are higher than +9 because the increase in defense is typically not worth the extra weight and power cost of the improvements required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain weapons also come with enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.
To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade, the more advanced the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.
It's still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying gear with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. These items have a greater chance of granting you the highest tier advantages and benefits.
To improve their skills faster, many players be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase a stat or provide secondary effects on weapons and armor. They can be created through a process called jewelry crafting, where you combine a gemstone and several ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the quality of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or through collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts will vary according to the tier that the jewel is in when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or other gear.
All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for the privilege of having them. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels are able to be swapped with another jewel of the same type without destroying it. You can only replace the gem once in an item of equipment.
It is common to use more jewels for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't cause harm as easily.
In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These provide a small bonus and are able to be swapped easily, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that provide many tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and through doing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket that a player can unlock is the cloak. It gives a small but beneficial boost in movement speed and the ability to evade. After that, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player obtains weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active even when the character is not in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also compensate for the lack of a strong slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by the hero's best stats.
As a general rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable statistics that aren't as important as the iLevel for the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item Upgrader Mod. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
At the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players typically choose the pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices can affect a hero's ability to control the map.
In addition to the items listed above, players will also find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, finishing the main quest for a chapter or beating a boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
