11 "Faux Pas" That Are Actually OK To Make With Your Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item upgrader kit Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They increase the performance of the item they are connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will increase its ability to absorb damage. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.
There are several different types of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different impact. Some upgrades give armor an additional number of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item upgrades will receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.
Some upgrades are magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades require charges in order to be used. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated daily or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give significant improvements in performance and are worth the investment, particularly for one-handed weapons.
A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense capabilities, but the player should be aware that putting more weight on it will drastically reduce its speed and agility. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the added defense is usually not worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain weapons come with special upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade item fee of a set number of Bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade the more advanced the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would be reset.
This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off going to the stores and buying equipment that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a better chance of bringing you the most prestigious benefits and blessings.
Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to make sure they are able to level up faster. In addition players, they should think about upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their squadmates to increase their power as well. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will enhance its effectiveness when paired with experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in weapons and armor. They can be made through the process of jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem and various chemicals at a table. The higher the grade of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts will vary depending on the tier the jewel is in when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or other gear.
All levels of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a sufficient level to be able to get these. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped out with a jewel of the same kind without damaging the original one. You can only replace the gem once within an item upgrader mod of equipment.
Utilizing more jewels in a move will make it feel smoother and is typically performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to improving performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't damage them as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be freely swapped, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can provide your hero with many small, but beneficial, advantages. They can be acquired starting in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by doing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers and later found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinket players will be able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player can then acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be used in any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with certain types of trinkets.
These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This lets the hero be more effective while inactive and may also help fill in the void of a strong team or any slots from the talent tree that would normally be filled with the hero's ideal statistics.
In general trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best item upgrade in Slot) items you won't replace anytime soon. Then, you should consider any items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel of the item upgrader mod to be upgraded. This is especially true if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat than two less important ones.
At the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and middle players typically choose a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story, such as finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. You can check them out by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
