The S1 performed well in cleaning hard floors. The mop sped along on its flat side and swung up when it came to carpets or rug.

Before each mopping session, the docking station on the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and refills the water tank with clean ozonated filtered water. The dock also provides an extra-deep cleaning solution to the water. The S1 water tank can hold enough for 12 cleaning sessions, but this will vary depending on the frequency you use the mop.

Like all 2-in-1 robots, the S1 requires periodic maintenance to ensure that it's operating well. It is necessary to regularly wash out the tank that has been contaminated to avoid it becoming clogged. Also, you'll need to clean the swivel wheels and sensors regularly to keep them from getting clogged by dust or dirt. Overall, the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.

Its mopping capabilities are also excellent and include a pair of mop pads that can lift and scrub the floor, rather than just dragging the pad across it. The mops are cleaned with heated water and dried in the base station when needed. The mops are also refilled from the top of the base station as required.

3. Dreame X40 Ultra

Dreame's X30 Ultra robot vacuum and mop was released earlier this year. However, their latest flagship model is packed with impressive features. It offers outstanding cleaning results and hands-free maintenance making it a top contender for our top mop and vacuum robots. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart detection, and an expanded side brush will ensure an effective, customized cleaning is accomplished.

The X40 Ultra does an excellent job of vacuuming, picking up fine and large debris from both hard floors and carpets. It also cleaned our test's dirtiest areas well, avoiding tangled pet hairs and other dirt. The sweeping power is enhanced by a side brush that automatically extends to reach hard-to-reach corners, and an extending mop pad that is placed along baseboards.

Its navigation is intelligent it can navigate through small spaces and negotiating stairways without skipping a step. It can move from one room to the next without needing to reverse the direction. Its obstacle avoidance system is less advanced than some competitors however, and tends to leave a thick space around obstacles, which could result in missed spots.
