Certain upgraded items can only be rerolled if the original item was a Unique, Rare or Epic. Exceptional items can also be rerolled, but the original stats are replaced by an uncapped bonus. Rerolling a Rare item will result in a normal version of the same kind, while the rerolling of an Epic item will result in an Elite version of the same type.

Additionally players can retrieve upgraded items by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using a top-quality salvage kit. Glyphs, which are placed in gathering tools are able to be swapped without any restrictions.

By selecting the item and pressing the green button with a an arrow that rerolls players can reroll it into another upgradeable item. This alters the layout of the item's window and allow players to select up to six items to "recycle". The item that is recycled will be exchanged for an Item upgrader kit of level 1 of the same type. Rerolled items won't retain their level or the amount of resources needed to upgrade them.

The maximum level of upgrade for an item is determined by its tier and the quality. Common items can be upgraded to an maximum of level six, while Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to levels nine.
