Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the best ways to improve your equipment without relying on massive drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upgrade your gear.

Upgrades to equipment provide a bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus is based on the upgrade component level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components are the items that improve your armor and weapons better. They can be found by destroying enemies, purchasing them from karma sellers or finding them in the form of item-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment that contains them, or through an advanced salvage kit such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Contrary to other products upgrade components, upgrade components aren't destroyed when they are removed from an item.

Upgrade components are typically used to upgrade an item, but they can also be used for other purposes. They can be stacked to increase the quality of an upgradeable item or they can be used to enhance the experience gained when upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can be forged to give extra bonuses. For example, a created glyph can increase the chances of upgrading its target, while a boost upgrade will enhance the defense or attack attribute of a weapon or armor.

By selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will allow you to bind it to an item. This will display the upgrade components to which the item can be updated. Alternatively, you can utilize the workbench to select an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components have been collected.

Each component has its own experience multiplier, which determines the amount of experience an item will gain when it upgrades with that component. For instance, organic components have a a higher experience multiplier than mechanical ones. It is therefore recommended to upgrade with organic components until you reach the multiplier of experience for the next rank of weapon or gear, then switch to mechanical upgrades.

Each item has an upgrade limit number that can be received. The number of upgrades is determined by its upgradeable rank and the upgrade type of the upgradeable item. The highest level of upgrade is a weapon that is tier 10. The most commonly used upgrade is a gun with tier 6 and a armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a group of items which share bonuses. Each item in the set can be upgraded at least once and the Upgrade Item increases the guaranteed bonuses. The first time you upgrade the set piece or weapon is that it will be given an increase of +1 to its primary stat. On subsequent upgrades the primary stats will be boosted a little more (for example, +1 to 12+/13+/14+) Each time you upgrade the item it will have one of its additional stats will be increased randomly.

The upgrade of a weapon can increase its damage base, which can be necessary for certain builds. However, weapons are not upgraded to have a higher maximum defense roll than their normal base. It is possible to increase the value of certain sets and unique items by upgrading them, but they're not always superior to a higher-level Runeword.

If you are upgrading an item with an added bonus the item can be rerolled a single time and the guarantee will reset to zero. Rerolling costs the same amount of power dice as leveling an item, but the upgraded item will come with different extra bonuses. The NPC [Armor] Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will require a power die of each kind (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; dice 7 drops from bosses) and the appropriate amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be purchased by using Gold at the crafting table, or in the Ultra Collection. The NPCs will also offer special rewards for each completed stage of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a single time using the same materials as original item.

Rerolling

A player can reroll any item upgrader kit acquired during the game, provided they have enough tokens to do so. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced by the same level in another set. Reroll tokens can be purchased from the store for a small amount of in-game currency, however they are not refundable. The new upgraded item will still come with the extra bonuses of the original one, but its stats will differ as well.

Players can change the identification of their equipment, in addition to changing it's roll by interfacing with a NPC upgrader. The equipment's identification will change as a weapon to armor, or reverse the process. The base stats and requirements remain the same. The change is permanent and will affect all characters that have the gear in question.

The player can also upgrade their item level for any equipment equipped. This is done by engaging with an upgrader NPC and obtaining upgrade items. This will cost a certain number of crests and Valorstones according to the upgrade track and the item kind. Each upgrade will add an additional 5% of damage to weapons.

Upgrades can boost the power of an item upgrader kit, but they also decrease its quality. Therefore, it is important to find a balance between these two. Some items are not worth upgrading, while others need to be upgraded to make them more effective. For example one player might decide to upgrade a piece of breakpoint armor that comes with an interesting modifier (% chance to block or FHR) to discover what it could be.

The main reason people play rerolls in Genshin Impact, or in any gacha-based game, is because they are trying to get a specific character or weapon that they can't otherwise obtain. These items can be time-consuming and expensive to obtain, and the RNG isn't always a good fit. The only other options are to spend real money or grind a lot. For this reason, rerolling is a very popular choice in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

You can select whether to upgrade the weapon or armor after upgrading an item. But, this feature does absolutely nothing in the current game. I believe it was intended to to increase the value of rare items, but as equipment generally drops quickly and can only be upgraded one level up, you'll usually replace the item before it gets old enough. It's also not worthwhile to upgrade items with gem sockets as the power of the gem will be greater than the increase in ilvl with the upgrade.

If you click the upgrade button on an item, you'll get a small screen with the item's upgrade template and the cost of crest and Valorstone to boost the level of the item upgrader mod. Armor and weapons have different costs, with the latter usually being more expensive. The upgrade template shows the statistics that will be added to the upgraded item. It also lists its current base ilvl.

The Crest and Valorstone costs are calculated according to the current ilvl of the item and the upgrade template. In addition, the ilvl of the new upgraded item will be decreased by the template's lvl reduction percentage. For instance an upgrade of 8% will reduce the weapon's ilvl by 8 to 88%.

In addition to the increase in ilvl base, the item will also be upgraded in other stats such as critical strike damage, damage from PvE and dodge, block and parry rating. These increases are built on the upgrade template.

In the upgrade template you can determine the amount of damage or defense an item will receive after being leveled up. This is shown below the cost and the upgrade percentages. All weapons and armor, except practice equipment, get these stats when they level up. The value of these stats will be dictated by the market, with a perfectly rolled version of a weapon or piece of armor is able to command more in trade value than unupp'd versions. This is also true for other armor pieces, such as circlets and Tiaras.
