Having the option of lie flat seating is a must for newborns, because it helps improve lung and back development. Carrycots or cocoons are available on many prams. They create a nest-like space that is comfortable for your baby and can be detached easily from the frame. Our parent testers loved the feature of some prams like the Graco Near2Me which lets you raise your baby at the touch of a button. This is a great way to keep in touch with your baby, especially if they're sleeping. If you are looking for a travel system that is compatible with the car capsule you select, you will not have to wake your baby up to switch between the pram and car.

These are useful if you have a busy life or don't have a large enough car boot to accommodate prams, however it's important to keep in mind that your child must be old enough and able to sit independently before you can change between the car capsule and pram.

Another feature you may want to keep an eye on is the ability to raise and lower your newborn's seat from a low to a high setting, which allows you to maintain eye contact with them and keeps them close to you. This is something our parent tester found was very useful for her 10-month old boy! One good example is the Graco Near2Me which can lower to allow your baby to glide into your arms by pressing the button, and remain in constant eye contact.

Make sure that your newborn pram has a sturdy base with wheels that can withstand potholes and bumps.
