Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.

For an easy ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. However, they are more prone to punctures, so be prepared with an repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

Figures have just been released that show that the three-wheeled buggy which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sense is in a decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more versatile and easier to drive and look stylish.

The larger the wheels are, the more your buggy will be able to deal with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back also makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and 3 wheel stroller year old and found that it was able to handle cobbles, grass rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said that "it feels sturdy to push and extremely solid when going over difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasional pumping) have suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my kids.

The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to consider. You'll want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also require it to recline for them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have the option of reclining completely, while others only allow for the parent to be facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or wet walks. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth and can be adjusted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4. It includes a bumper and raincover, a new 5-point harness, and a huge cushioned seat. Storage options are also great, with a large basket with zip pockets on the hood, and an attractive pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Wheels with a larger diameter

Larger wheels give your buggy more stability while driving on rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with wheels that swivel at the front to aid in maneuvering around tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This is also helpful if you bump into an unintentional tree root or road, as the front wheel can be lifted up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.

A majority of 3 wheel bassinet stroller wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres, which means they can be used on a variety of terrains and are far more flexible than four wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they are prone to punctures, so you'll need to have an repair kit, spare tube and pump in your bag.

Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and are able to easily climb and descend kerbs. They also have suspensions that Kath says "smooths out bumps very effectively".

The downside of having larger wheels is that they make buggies quite large and make it difficult to get through narrow spaces. This can be a problem if you are using it as a jogger or you need to get through narrow doorways while on the move. The majority of models come with compact folding options that permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to manoeuvre

A three-wheeler can be more comfortable to drive with a child. The way they are constructed means that the front wheels turn on a dime and are extremely maneuverable which makes them perfect for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a jogging 3 wheel stroller wheeler with her toddler and newborn and said: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough terrain and the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also impressed by the way it handled the kerbs, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. It was extremely stable when going downhill or on a rough terrain."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3-wheel buggy may make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something to keep in mind if your home area is one of the cities. If this is a concern then a 4-wheeler might be better for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars are a great way to protect your little one from scrapes and bumps while out and about. They are simple and quick to put in and will make your child feel safe and secure while out on the town or taking on tough terrain.

It is designed to complement the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features an upholstered and soft surface that offers a comfortable spot for your child to hold onto during walks. The robust construction and durable design will ensure that your child is capable of enjoying a stroll through the city without worrying about falling or leaning forward.

The fabric sling sits snugly inside the frame, not on top like the seat that is modular. This puts the centre of gravity for your baby at the right height and also provides an excellent weight distribution, making it easier to climb over curbs (it is much easier to push the stroller up and over than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's great on grass and cobbles. It's also a good alternative for running, thanks to its air-filled tyres as well as a the lockable swivel wheel.

With a stylish and sophisticated design This bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever you go. Available in a range of finishes and colours that can be customized to match your style. The bumper bar can be removed and installed using the quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is easy to clean as it is constructed of sturdy materials. This makes it a great option for families that want an attractive and secure accessory for their stroller.

Comfort

A 3 Wheel Pushchair Off Road-wheel buggy offers the most agility and performance when driving off-road. With perfect geometry and weight distribution, this type of buggy can be able to turn at a moment's notice and be a breeze to steer with just one hand. All Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.

The Sport's clever design places the fabric sling seat within the frame, rather than sitting on top as modular seats. This lets it have a lower center of gravity which means it's more comfortable to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you won't need to exert much effort to push the buggy's front end over the curb) and also provides more stability and balance. With the 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled that allow you to enjoy an easier, more comfortable jog.

As the only pushchair in our collection to come with a parent-facing seat that can also be used as a carrycot or car seat to ensure the future of your family and take pleasure in every moment of your day and into the future - all within the footprint of a single buggy!

Kath the MFM reviewer, also loved the spaciousness of the buggy. There's a large, easily accessible basket that's huge for a buggy this small as well as an excellent zip-up pouch at the rear of the seat and even two smaller mesh pockets inside the hood to keep your keys and phone.
