1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those who want a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they are very good at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we evaluated, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes about three hours to recharge.

The main advantage it has over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

This is an average and not a remarkable time to run a battery-powered cordless vac. That's still enough run time to clean most of an average-sized house however, it's not enough to clean every area (though a second run-through usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.
