WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item level Upgrade and the current level of the item upgrading, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Many locations offer item upgrader mod upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific item upgrader kit level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will be less expensive, even when they belong to another set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank has an upgrade items path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
