World of Warcraft item upgrading Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

When an Best item upgrader is upgraded, its base stats are increased in value. This value is the total of all of its leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades to items can be costly depending on the upgrader you choose and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and is visible on all tooltips of items. It also serves as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can evaluate the level of an item. It's an indicator of the item's damage and quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when examining the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the area the item upgrading is dropped into can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.

Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item.

At present, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. This will cost a certain amount in gold and items. They can also be used as Upgrade Item gauges as with other methods of rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it's an item that is unique or a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this will have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item level upgrade, up to 140.

Furthermore some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be bought at the store, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it fails.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much success rates can be increased and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.

The luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects can be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
