The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as a dirt detector) are positives.

Be sure to regularly inspect your robot vacuums that mop's brushes for hair tangled as well as large debris and clean them as required. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot automatic hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning robot mop and vacuum.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot autonomous vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models This mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose auto vacuum and mop that's very capable however, it's more expensive and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
