WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrader kit by 3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show an item upgrade's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item upgrading as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. Once an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level upgrade level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if those items are from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrades upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
