Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an Best item upgrade gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. This is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the levels of the item. It's a sign of the damage and its quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the item's level.

On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value and sockets have gems that increase the item's overall value. This can lead to an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's real item level.

It's not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The location of where the item was dropped may change its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat modifications of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item upgrading. A white or grey item for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at more expensive costs.

Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item upgrader kit. The affixes could be used to give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an additional name to the item.

Presently, all affixes are able to be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using the arrows that circle. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.

Players can upgrade an item by a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to roll the affixes, or choose which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the likelihood of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more useful in the initial game run than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also increase the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each item level and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) for a further +40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available at the store or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrades (simply click the up coming article) is also influenced by the luck of that item. Each item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by five percent.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects could be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
