WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an Item level upgrade by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current item upgrader kit level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item upgrader mod for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if those items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
