Everything You Need To Know About Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He evaluates and tests cleaning equipment. His main focus is robot vacuums, and mopping combinations. These multitaskers are an excellent option for those who wish to take mopping off their to-do list. They have impressive mapping capabilities and obstacle avoidance, and some wash and refill their own mopping pads for a hands-off clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
If you're looking for a robotic vacuum that can also mop, this is the model to look for. It is smaller than other models, making it easier to maneuver into tight corners or under furniture. It has a 220-degree lidar that combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it the best navigation and obstacle avoidance I've ever seen in a robot vacuum. It comes with a massive 4600mAh battery that can last for up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it is able to run longer in turbo). It will even return to the dock to top up its battery midway through cleaning.
It's very quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room, and hallways with just one motion. Its 8,000pa motor is able to pick up dirt, pet hair, and droppings easily. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes into contact with rugs, and the dual side brushes help draw out dirt from corners.
The mopping efficiency, while still impressive, is not as good. The rotating mop spins at a high velocity and is pushed down with 2.2lbs of force, easily scraping away dirt and staining. I've also noticed that the front arms stick out slightly more than other robots, which can be helpful for getting into tight corners and along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to scoop up larger objects like broken toys and books.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot vacuum and mop mops and vacuums I've tried. It doesn't produce as loud of a sound when mopping or vacuuming, and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping, and is sold separately from the vacuum. It is easy to install, and it works well. However, if you are buying this robot vacuum solely for mopping purposes, you will need to be aware of this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums which mops in its class. It is a powerful machine for cleaning with a variety of features.
The device is equipped with an extremely powerful and impressive cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map the home and detect furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean effectively and methodically. This leads to an efficient, consistent clean that is also quite fast.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad is capable of reaching many surfaces. This includes corners, baseboards and other hard to reach areas. The side brush can be stretched to reach the floor close to the walls or other fixtures. In addition the mop pads can be washed and dried to prevent build-up and reduce the smell.
Another noteworthy feature is the customizable options available via apps. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the suction intensity and choose either a back-and-forth or a random pattern. You can also adjust the number of passes it must make, which will affect how quickly the device can move through your home. You can also decide to disable the side brush to avoid damaging rugs and carpets.
This device is expensive but has many smart features. It's important to note that it incurs recurring expenses in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For example, a brushroll needs to be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter will need to be cleaned after 150 hours, and the mop pad must be replaced every one to three months.
The robot vacuum mop is a top Amazon rating and includes many physical automation features. This includes a power button that serves as a general "Clean button as well as a Home button that sends it back to its base station after finishing its cleaning session. It also comes with a multifunctional dock that automatically emptys the trash bin, fills up its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a busy professional or someone who just wants to have a clean home without spending a lot of time on chores The Shark Matrix Plus is a solid option. Its powerful performance, intelligent navigation and long battery life make it simple to maintain a clean home with minimal effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, which means it can handle both vacuuming and mopping. The robot has two modules: a dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping system with a microfiber pad that snaps in and out of place. Separate modules for vacuuming and mopping may seem a bit old-fashioned but they're a good thing because you don't have to think about changing disposable bags or refueling the water tank.
Our test participants discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming and mopping. Its most impressive feature is its precise floorplan map, which it employs when cleaning. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs, and other obstacles. The app allows you to create 'No-Go Zones' and virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a surprising job of collecting hair of pets. It was able to capture a large amount of hair that our cats shed, and even found its way into the nooks and crannies of our stairs which other robots struggled. The noise levels of the robot were low, and there were some lovely jingles that signal that it was in the process of getting its work done.
Its biggest drawbacks were its lack of sophistication and the requirement to change between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app doesn't have the capacity to hold multiple maps, which could be a problem when you live in a house that has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want a smart robot vacuum with mop that can perform both vacuuming and mopping.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robotic vacuum that is able to mop in our test, but it also has unique features that are worth considering. The X1 Omni is most notable for its massive dock that serves as an charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dust bin and a 2.5 liter dust bin.
The base also has a variety of control buttons that let you manually start a cleaning task or recall the robot or use the dock's automatic vacuum cleaner and mop emptying process. Hold down two of the buttons to turn off the child lock that is a great touch for parents worried about children playing with the vacuum.
Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than laser detection systems and is four times more precise in recognizing objects.
Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally get caught up in an obstruction, such as a power cord draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and stops working until you manually free it. This was a rare incident however it was frustrating because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert in its app.
The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two, which isn't a big deal aside from the fact that the mopping pads aren't washed and dried between use which could lead to mildew or mold.
On the bright side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a major change from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing view in a market that is dominated by clunky boxy models.
