Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Easy to assemble

They are compact and easy to set up, meaning they can be set close to your bed. They are also lighter, making them more portable. Georgina one of our MFM home testers, was extremely pleased with the Maxi-Cosi Lora crib for being "super straightforward to construct, with clear instructions and simple zips." This crib can also be used as a travel cot and comes with a handy bag to carry it around on the move. It has multiple mesh openings for ventilation, and its adjustable height allows it to fit any mattress.

Some bedside cribs feature a side panel which can be lowered so that you can easily access your baby without stepping out of bed. This is a great solution for breastfeeding mums or parents who want to be with their baby throughout the night, but don't want to be at risk of co-sleeping (which is associated with an increased risk of SIDS).

Many models come with an integrated rocking feature. This can be a very relaxing experience for your baby and aid them to fall asleep. Georgina found it straightforward to put together, however she did feel the zips could have been better explained on the instruction manual.

Easy to clean

If you're considering travel cots and bedside baby bed cribs, look for ones that come with a mattress cover which can be washed in the machine. This will help keep it clean from spills, nappies, sick babies and spills. It's important to choose a product that can be removed and partially dismantled so you can get into every nook and cranny to conduct an extensive cleaning and sanitising session.

This is vital, since it will ensure that all germs and dirt have been removed. Make sure that the sides of the crib are secure to ensure that your baby won't slide off or become trapped.
