WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade item boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the Best item upgrade however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. After an item level upgrade items (visit the next page) has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will cost less, even in the event that they are part of another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them wisely. It's Best item upgrade to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
