WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Best item upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item level upgrade (review) upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which displays an image of the item upgrade at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will be less expensive, even in the event that they are part of a different gear set.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific Best item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
