1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic mop and vacuum robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up an best automatic vacuum cleaner spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
