The best robot vacuum cleaner and mop Robot Hoover

Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuum best vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaners uk we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
