Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency at which you have to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs, and that has large bins that will need to be emptied periodically.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves This is an advantage important for families with children or pets. Many of the best combo vacuum performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a an entirely automated vacuum, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the robot's dustbin after it has filled up.

Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we tested the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include clearing out any clutter or toys it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid getting blocked. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to fully recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.

In our testing the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying, which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop automatic cleaning robot sessions and also to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to meet the task at hand. It can quickly change from floor auto vacuum cleaner (scotslawblog.com blog entry) to handheld vacuum and vice versa.

This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments and a Wand clip. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to get every single spot (though a second run-through usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular cheap Robot vacuum vacuums The 694 is a basic model that's a good choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up most types of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently goes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that is found on all kinds of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior customizations docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tested and could be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible through the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you to check in on your pets or children while you're away. The dustbin and filter are washable to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties and helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and optimizes suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker best value robot vacuum Vacuum

Contrary to other robotic vacuums which are designed for both carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. The robots come with an extra wide cleaning path, and a dustbin that is 2X bigger than the competitors. This lets them clean the area for longer. In addition, they have two side sweepers that clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is collecting dirt that is on the surface or embedded. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and manage functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum's battery and then return it to its dock to charge by pressing the button. The app also allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so you can clearly see the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.

The app also makes it simple to manually steer the robot if needed. For example, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can trip up some of the other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border, without notifying the edge. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
