Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.

Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or additional impact when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players must select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the necessary component or materials.

There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of item names. For instance adding the suffix Glyph would make a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item can be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple items.

This will allow the item level upgrade to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to gain affixes which will enhance its capabilities. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's class. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is located in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item does not get to its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and will cost the same amount of material however it will result in a lower chance of success.

Engineers will utilize a level to compare the height of the building to an established point, such as a benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod and then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to an extremely high degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential part of the game and can improve an item's damage, strength or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be done sparingly.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats to your build more frequently than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This could be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.

Each upgraded item could have a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added to normal affixes. The more you improve an item, the better the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also comes with a number of sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is a great method to add lots of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. Rerolling is a way to create a more powerful character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and attain higher levels.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They can be of various sizes, contain none at all, or have a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or organize information. They are also useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways in terms of size and shape.

There are many set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that provide high defense value and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not boost the stats of the item when in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have a lot of weapons or armor pieces already.

Set items can be upgraded to include special functions that are beneficial for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to the level of the tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items can enhance their defense, and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the Best item upgrade's attributes and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. This will display the item's characteristics, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, armor and weapons have higher value when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this, since its defense value will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
