Quiz: How Much Do You Know About Three Wheeled Buggies
Three Wheeled Buggies
If you're seeking a buggy to jog with or just a nifty stroller to tackle the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre, even in tight spaces.
For a smooth ride, go for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres and look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. They are, however, susceptible, to punctures. Be prepared with an emergency repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
Recent figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled buggie - that noughties symbol of more money than sanity is in a decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, which are more versatile and easy to drive, while also looking stylish.
The general idea is that the bigger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front allow you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with the newborn baby as well as a child who was 3 years old and found it to be extremely sturdy. It handled grass, cobbles and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said that "it is sturdy to push and very solid when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to think about is the size and shape. The seat should be big enough for your child to feel at ease and to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies will have a full lie-flat option while others allow the parent to be facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and walking in muddy areas. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers up to age four and includes a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness and a spacious cushioned seat unit. The storage options are great too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch on the back of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean that your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - ideal for off-road buggies. They also make it easier to move the pushchair around tight spaces. A lot of three wheel pushchairs-wheeled buggies come with the front wheels that swivel to help you navigate around tight corners, while others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This can also help if you bump into an unintentional tree root or road, as the front wheel will rise up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.
Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air filled tyres which means they can handle different terrains and are more flexible than 4-wheeler. They also tend to be lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, so you will require repair kits and an spare inner tubes on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are among our top 3-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels that she claims "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily move up and down kerbs. The buggies also have a suspension that, according to Kath "smooths out bumps very effectively".
Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite wide, and may struggle to fit into narrow spaces. This could be a problem if you are using it as a jogger or have to squeeze through narrow doorways while out and about. The majority of models come with compact folding options that let you remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to maneuver
One of the main benefits of a three-wheel buggy is that it's much more maneuverable especially with a child in the back. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels can rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to navigate, making them ideal for terrains that are difficult, such as cobblestones, parks, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3 wheel stroller with infant car seat-wheeler with her toddler. she said: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on rough terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was particularly useful." I was also awed by how well it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. It was very stable for descending or on a rough terrain."
The only downside to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3-wheel buggy may make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of when you live in an urban area. If this is the case then a 4-wheeled buggy could be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars protect your child from scrapes and bumps when out and out and about. These bumper bars are easy to install and will help your child feel safe and secure out and out and about.
It is designed to complement the sleek lines of your Slim twin 3 wheel stroller stroller, this bumper bar is an upholstered and soft surface that offers a comfortable place for your child to hang to when walking. The sling is stowed within the frame and not on top of the seat that is modular. This creates a lower centre of gravity for your baby at the ideal height, and also provides great weight distribution, making it easier to climb over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and down than you think). MFM reviewer Kath found it to be able to deal well with cobbles and grass and it's a good option for jogging with its lockable swivel front wheel that can be locked and air-filled tyres.
With a stylish and sophisticated design this bumper bar is sure to draw attention wherever you go. Available in a range of finishes and colours that can be customized to match your style. Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy provides the best 3 wheel pushchair in maneuverability and performance when you go off road. This style of buggy is simple to steer and turns in a flash thanks to its perfect geometry, engineering, and weight distribution.
The clever design of the Sport places the fabric sling seat within the frame, rather than over it like modular seats. This lets it have a lower center of gravity which means it's easier to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you won't need to exert much effort to push the buggy's front end over the curb), and offers greater stability and balance. With the 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled, you can enjoy an easier, more comfortable jogging.

Kath, our MFM reviewer, also loved the roominess of this buggy. There's a huge easy-to-access basket that's quite spacious for a buggy of this size, plus there's an excellent zip-up pouch on the rear of the seat and even two smaller mesh pockets under the hood for your phone and keys.
