The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bedside bassinet that helps parents feel connected to their child while they sleep. It adjusts up and down and can be moved through three slide positions to fit beside the bed of the parent, or in the corner of the room, so that the baby is always within arm's reach. The mesh siding lets air flow through, and allows you to quickly see your baby. You can also put away any extra pajamas or items in the large storage basket beneath.

In contrast to other bedside cribs Iora is a standout among other bedside cots for newborns cribs. Iora folds flat and comes with a carry-on bag which allows it to be carried anywhere. Our mum testers were able to move it from room to room and felt it was a great size for a bedside cot that was not too big or too small. They also appreciated the large storage basket, that is ideal for storing nappies or other bedding items.

This is a great option for parents who want to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but do not wish to share their beds or whose partner may have mobility issues, like back problems or arthritis. Our mom testers were thrilled to be able to easily access their child while in the Iora and that it had an optional reflux incline that helped to reduce gas.

Our mums also love the fact that it meets NICE guidelines, which are to place the infant in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no toys, blankets, pillows, etc). They also say that the mattress is comfortable and firm for babies and is easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as some of the smaller cribs on our list, so if you prefer something lighter and easier for you to move, choose another alternative.
