3 Wheeled Buggies
A 3-wheel buggy is perfect for off-road walking & taking on terrains that is bumpy, like woodland tracks. They are also easier to maneuver around kerbs than 4-wheel models.
MadeForMums reviews editor Kath tried one of these three-wheelers with her newborn and 3 year old daughter, putting it through its paces on the asphalt and on the muddy ground. Read her review here.
Stability
With four wheels and a center of gravity that is balanced by the weight of your child in the seat, 4-wheel buggies are generally considered to be more stable than 3-wheelers. But that doesn't mean that an older model with three wheels isn't worth considering, since some of these models are designed to handle everything from rough terrain to bustling high streets.
If you want a buggie that is easy to maneuver and will not fall over on muddy roads, opt for a model with large rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. These all terrain 3 wheel stroller-terrain buggies also have pneumatic tires that are perfect for handling non-paved surfaces. They are able to be used even on sandy beaches and tracks through woodlands.
They are also the best buggies for running with, since they offer great stability on rough terrain and help you keep pace with your jogging partner. They're also good at climbing and down steep kerbs as well and a majority come with a suspension built in that ensures your child will enjoy a comfortable ride.
A 3 wheeled strollers-wheeled stroller can be a challenge to maneuver due to its large frame. It can be more difficult to maneuver through narrow spaces and doorways than a 4-wheeler. However certain manufacturers have addressed this issue with clever design that lets the wheels turn upwards when not in use, which decreases their overall size, and allows you get through doors without difficulty.
If so, check for a lie-flat positioning and if the design is compatible with second seating and buggy boards (if you'd like to add a toddler onboard). Find out if the buggy comes with a lie-flat feature and if it is compatible with a second seat and buggy boards if you intend to take a toddler along. A majority of 3-wheelers can fold flat and be placed upright. This is great when you have an unwieldy boot space or limited storage at home. However, some require you to take out the front wheel before folding if you wish to fit into more compact space.
Manoeuvrability
Three-wheeled buggies typically offer better manoeuvrability than pushchairs with four wheels. A lot of them feature a swivelling wheel on the front which allows you to control and change direction with only one hand. Some models also come with a lockable front wheels which gives you stability on rougher terrain. Some models can even be used with an additional seat or buggy board in case you're planning to expand your family.
If you plan to remove your three-wheeled buggies from the roads that are paved then you should opt for a model with pneumatic tyres. They are able to handle the most difficult terrain. These tyres may need to be filled from time to time, but they will be more durable and puncture-proof compared to solid tyres. Choose a model that has a the ability to lock the swivelling wheel on the front to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.
A single front wheel may also mean that three-wheelers tend to be more bulkier than buggies with four wheels when folded. Check to see if the model you're considering fits in the boot of your vehicle and can be sat up in the event that it is needed. Some models can fold in one hand, and they're freestanding when collapsed. This will save space in smaller car boots.
A well-constructed three-wheeled pushchair can take on any terrain, from busy streets to forest tracks. However, it is important to consider what you'll be using it for in the daytime. If you'll be doing the school run with it, it must be able handle the kerbs and steep slopes. If you'll be running on it, check that it has an adjustable lockable swivelling'stretch' for the front wheel to keep the ride safe.

Fabric Sling Seat
The primary distinction between a fabric and a modular one is the fabric sling. It sits inside the frame of the buggy rather than being positioned on top of it like a modular chair. This enables a much more ergonomically-correct position for babies, which instantly delivers an lower centre of gravity and a more appropriate height. This results in an easier push, a less hefty curb pop (you do not require as much weight and effort to pop the buggy over the curb's edge) and a better stability and balance.
These seats also have sling fabrics that are easy to clean and durable. Developed specifically with sling chair applications in mind they are UV resistant and breathable. They are also easy to maintain using mild soap and warm water.
