WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrades upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item level upgrade used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the item being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrading owners for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the Item Level Upgrade and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is even if those items come from another set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance, it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
