Why All The Fuss Over Pushchair
Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin
If you have twins, you'll need a double pushchair in order to get them from A to B. Our range includes twin prams as well as buggies that are able to be set up in various ways to meet your needs.
Choose a stroller which can be folded in one step and then easily tucked away into your car. You might also want a lighter design, especially if you're tackling busy high streets.
Side-by-Side
This is the most common double pushchair with car seat. It is usually able to accommodate two children side-by-side. They tend to be wider than single pushchairs. This makes them less able to maneuver on footpaths. It may also be difficult to navigate through kerbs with the car seat is in place. However, the extra width can mean that they're often a lot easier to navigate through doorways and are distributed more evenly making them more comfortable to carry around on your back.
Many models are able to be used as twin prams and take a carrycot, or two car seats. Some can even convert into one mode by adding a basket alongside (like the Cybex Venus).
The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a great example of this. In Twin Mode, you can place the rear seat alongside the carrycot. This creates a completely enclosed space for twins, and is perfect for babies. The pram comes with really cool accessories, such as the newborn cocoons, which can be put on either facing toward the forward direction or pram And car seat (quillwound2.bravejournal.net) in any direction (for twin-facing prams). It's not as lightweight as other models however it's very cleverly designed.
Lightweight
Cybex is renowned for its unique pushchairs, and the single-to double is no exception. Its clever frame expands widthways to accommodate an additional seat and can be used it as a twin right from birth with the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) which provide enclosed, lie-flat areas for infants. It can also be used in an individual mode with only one child due to a large shopping basket that is placed behind the seat. It comes with front and rear suspensions, so it can handle bumps and uneven surfaces better. Our reviewers selected this car as their top prams pick.
Available in a variety of elegant colors.
Tandem
If you're planning to have twins, you want a pushchair that can allow children to sit together, so they can see each other. They are great for trips to the zoo since the kids can look at the animals together. They're also perfect for parents who have to keep an eye on their toddler and the other eye on their infant because they can see both of them at the same time.
Some tandem pushchairs provide ultra versatility as they can change back to single mode. This is particularly useful for families with more than two children (or if your eldest child isn't a need for a buggy any longer). This means you won't have an empty pushchair to put away which can be expensive.
For instance, the Cybex Venus can be used in mono or double mode, and features a clever frame that expands widthways to accommodate a second seat. It's not the lightest pushchair however it does come with an enormous basket that can be set behind the front seat when in double mode or at the rear when in mono mode. The seats can be positioned so that they face one other or higher up to observe what the other is doing.
Some double tandem pushchairs prams like the Joolz Geo 3, are able to seat one above the other or side by side. The compact, sleek frame makes it easy to maneuver through doorways and supermarket aisles. Certain models can be used on rough terrain or as a jogging path due to their large rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
A tandem pushchair can be used to transport two carrycots or a car and buggy seat. You can save money by establishing an overall travel system from the beginning and not making separate purchases. Keep in mind that tandems are more heavy and longer and may be less stable when bumping into kerbs or navigating uneven surfaces. These pushchairs also need to be dismantled for fitting into cars.
