Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver, even in tight places.

For a smooth ride, go for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. They are susceptible, however, to punctures. Be prepared with an repair kit.

Sturdy frame

The latest figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled buggy - a symbol of the noughties of more money than wisdom - is in steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that can be more versatile in terrain, while still looking swanky and being easy to push.

The basic principle is that the larger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back also makes it easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with an infant as well as a child who was 3 wheel buggy for sale years old and found it very robust. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass, and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said that "it is solid to push and extremely solid when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres, which are inflated and require to be pumped up occasionally they have suspension built-in. It was extremely comfortable for my kids.

The size and shape of the seat is another thing to consider. You will want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also want it to be able to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have the option of reclining completely, while others only allow for an adult facing one.

An excellent option for taking on off-road and muddy trails is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is suitable for a single child as early as birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth to age 4, and comes with a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a big padded seat. Storage options are also a plus with a large basket with zip pockets on the hood, and an attractive pouch at the rear of seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels give your buggy more stability while driving over rough terrain. This is ideal for off-road buggies. They also help you navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have swivel front wheels to aid you in maneuvering around tight corners, whereas others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This is also helpful if you bump into a tree root or stray kerb as the front wheel can be lifted up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.

A majority of lightest 3 wheel stroller wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to navigate a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they are prone to punctures and you'll need to have a repair kit, spare inner tube and pump handy.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are among our top 3-wheelers. Both buggies feature larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and can easily climb and descend kerbs. They also have a suspension system that, in her words "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".

The drawback of having larger wheels is that they can make buggies quite large and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This can be problematic if you intend to use it for jogging or you need to get through doorways that are narrow while out and about. Luckily, most models have small 3 wheel stroller folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels for more compact storage.

Easy to Manoeuvre

One of the main benefits to a three-wheeled buggy is that it can be much more maneuverable, especially with a child on the way. They are designed so that the front wheels turn on a dime, and are easy to navigate, making them ideal for difficult terrain like cobblestones, parks, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler with her infant and toddler and wrote: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the terrain and the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also awed by how well it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. It was very stable going downhill or on uneven terrain."

The only downside of this amazing maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it will struggle in tight spaces - something to be aware of if you live in a metropolitan area. If this is the case then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better choice for you.

Bumper bar
