However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities and therefore it could get stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to recharge.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot best home vacuum cleaner App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After connecting we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction settings to match the task that is being completed. It is able to swiftly change from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.

The model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also provides the ability to connect two attachments and the handheld. This is a big improvement over older Dysons models, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its claims to run up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical and not a remarkable time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size but not long enough to clean every spot (though an additional run-through often will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.

It was able to remove all kinds of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area several times for an extensive clean. Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top rated Robot vacuum selections, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently runs out of battery power before returning to its original location.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet).
