World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will increase 3percent of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals per.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete or even break when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in a variety of ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the Best item upgrade way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
Glyphs, the sole upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs and there are some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Using the Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each item level requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When the player upgrades an item upgrader kit to a higher level, the original item is replaced by a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also has its own set of bonuses. This could be a drawback, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, which will have an initial level and a different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful however it shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times, increasing their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or exits the water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is highly important in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of a unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can have eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item returning to its original condition which means that the player has to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained, such as crit chance damage to attack, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or the speed of reloading). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, if a weapon gains an increase in crit chance it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item level upgrade's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to the value of the base item. For instance, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items might require different upgrades than regular gear. For example, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each equipment upgrade will require a different amount of the upgrade ingredients.
