When an item is upgraded, its base type changes. Upgrades to a normal item result in an Exceptional version, whereas upgrades to an Exceptional version make an Elite. The item will retain all of its pre-upgrade statistics however it will also get an additional bonus from its new base type. The bonus is randomly chosen. In addition to the stat boosts Certain upgrades can provide a random boost. These secondary boosts are extremely beneficial and should be considered when deciding which items to upgrade. Some items have an inherent boo, which is not effective when upgraded, for example the Goldwrap which gives additional slots for potion. These are often upp'd to inject more value into an item that is perfect or close to being perfect.

Costs

Upgrades have some associated costs. The first cost is the upgrade itself. It can be costly and depends on the new value of the item and the number perks it gains. Upgrades to higher levels (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) are costly.

The other is the cost of items needed to upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21and up) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). These materials are available in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item. It could take as long as 8 hours depending on the size of the upgrade. The base stats of an upgraded item are calculated based upon its new ilvl and other properties. This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other important statistics. In some cases, an upgrade can grant additional perks. These perks are available on a list.

Rarely, the new perks gained will cost more than one perk slot to acquire In these cases the upgrade will replace the perks with the highest cost. Success Rate

Item upgrades are based on the chance of success, and as with every random system, there's the possibility that the upgrade won't be successful. However, there are some things which can improve the chance of success. This includes the use of an item dubbed an Upgrade Pity or the addition of additional items to the upgrade.

The Upgrade Pity is available through the NPC for the smithing process in Lost Ark. It increases the chance of a successful upgrade by a certain percentage. It is similar to the "luck bonus" that some items provide however it is more reliable. It can be added to any armor or weapon and can be used up to three times.

It is also possible to add a range of additional items to the upgrade, thereby increasing the chance of success. The materials are displayed in a separate window above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the maximum amount of material that can be added is shown right above the + button in the UI.

A Blacksmith Blessing, or an upgraded version thereof can be used to boost the odds of an upgrade succeeding. This item is useful when your piece of equipment or weapon is near or has reached the highest level of its level. It allows you to upgrade the equipment to the next level without worrying about breaking.

If an upgrade is unsuccessful it will be restored to its original state. This is often a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. It is recommended to save an upgrade for when you're close to the highest level of an item, and to use it as a last resort.

Kafra has a number of products that can be used in order to increase the chance of an upgrade being successful. For example upgrading an equipment with HD Oridecon or HD Elunium repeatedly will give you more chance of success. Also, increasing the chances to receive a Double Mint from Shoe-Minting a maximum of five times will increase the success rate.

Failure Rate

The item upgrade upgrader allows players to add a second slot to their equipment. These slots can be used to apply an enhancement or enchantment on an item. It is important to note that not all items are upgradeable. The rank of an item will determine the speed at which it can be upgraded and enchanted. The higher the item's rank, the more Zeny and items are required to upgrade it.

This system is costly especially if you're looking for high-level gear. Upgrades to armor and weapons can cost as much as 100,000 z or 100 Carnium. The rate of success decreases as you progress in rank. However, you can use cash shop items to increase your chances of upgrading your item successfully.

Normal Upgrade is the most basic upgrade that can be done on weapons, armor pieces and bicycles. It uses different core grades based on the item type. In general, items with lower grades will require cores of lower quality, while higher grade items will require more expensive ones.

You must have the right number of cores in order to do an upgrade normally. Once you have them click the button next to the item you want to upgrade. The upgrade window will display a percent indicator of your chances of success. The percentage is based on the upgrade level and core kind of item upgrades you have selected.

You can also choose an item upgrader kit with a safeguard which will safeguard the item in the event of failure. The cost of this protection may differ, but it will always be less than the cost of buying a new item. The protection is only available once per upgrade, and it is not a valid expiry date unless it is re-used.

The interface for the item upgrader is a bit confusing, but isn't impossible to navigate. The main menu appears on the left and the upgrade window is on the right. The arrows to the left side of the UI represent the different stages of the upgrade process. If you're not certain what you're doing, click the question mark icon for assistance. The upgrade process can take up to five minutes.
