1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good robot vacuum scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.
Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30

It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some extra cost it's a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would think from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
