Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot vacuum cleaners uk for hair that is tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum mop cleaner robot and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd expect from its price tag. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
