WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrader mod by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrades upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will display an image of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
item level upgrade, Read the Full Report, upgraders can be found in many places including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even when they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's Best item upgrade to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
