What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

Some of these boosts are only beneficial in certain builds (such as Whistan's shield in FB sorcs) while others can bring significant value to specific collectors.

Certain items come with inherent boo, which is not beneficial when upgraded, for example the Goldwrap which provides additional slots for potion. They are usually upgraded to increase the value of the perfect or nearly perfect item.

Costs

There are a few expenses related to upgrades of items. The first is the cost to perform the upgrade. The cost is based on the item's new ilvl and the amount of perks it will gain and can be costly. Upgrades to higher levels (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) can be expensive.

The second is the cost of the materials needed to upgrade. The items used are typically either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21+) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The amount of these materials needed can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

Upgrading an item is complicated and takes time. It can take up to 8 hours, depending on the size of an upgrade. The base stats of the upgraded item are calculated based upon its new ilvl as well as other properties. This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, as well as other important stats. In some instances, the upgrade will grant additional perks that can be selected from a variety of perks.

In rare instances the upgrade will replace only the highest-costing perks. You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase the chances of success. These materials are displayed in a separate window above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the maximum amount of material that can be added is shown right above the + button in the UI.

A Blacksmith Blessing, or an upgraded version thereof, can be used to boost the odds of an upgrade succeeding. This item is useful if you have an item or weapon gear that has reached the maximum level for its tier, or is close to it. This item lets you upgrade the equipment to the next tier without risking its breaking.

If an upgrade is unsuccessful it will be returned to its original state. This is usually a break, but can also be an upgrade. It is a good idea to save an upgrade when you're near the maximum level of an item, and then use it as a last resort.

Kafra has a number of items that can be utilized in order to increase the likelihood of an upgrade being successful. For instance upgrading an equipment using HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will give you a higher chance of success. The rate of success will be increased if you can increase your chances of receiving a Double Mint by Shoe-Minting five times.

Failure Rate
